I'm soooooo tired......

I haven't slept a full night since Thursday!

To say it has been the week from hell, may be just a tad of an understatement.....
It started Thursday, when the neighborlady came by for coffee, and she looked all frazzled and upset. Before we were even settled with a cup of tea, the story came out that she had a vets appointment with her cockerspaniel that afternoon, and she may not bring him home. He is 13, and there are all kinds of things going wrong, on very short notice, and the vet basically told her not to count on leaving with the dog unless.... but it was not set in stone, so the neighbor was preparing for the worst, with in the back of her head that it all may turn out ok..... That is a very hard way to go! I offered to go with her to the vet, but she declined. When she came home at 7 that night, she was carrying the leash, so we knew what had happened, just nog why it had taken from 2 to 7....... I sat up part of that night, and didn't sleep much after..... Friday she came by again and we talked. Turned out that after the dog was put to sleep she drove it up to the crematorium, about an hour away. I had never heard of that. With Boo, the vet took care of that part, and we got a call to come pick him up. Her experience at the crematorium was a good one though, and it helped her cope, so it's ok.

Sunday, we heard this heart wrenching wailing coming from the downstairs yard but when I looked out, I didn't see anything, so I put my butt back at the breakfast table. After a while, I saw our neighbor looking under cars, and peeking into gardens, so we figured Angel had gotten away from her. After putting her dog to sleep just 3 days earlier, we could only imagine the pain she must have been going thru, so we put on shoes, and jackets (the wind was going at a good clip, coming off the North Sea so it was a LOT colder than the 55 Degrees it said it was) and went downstairs to help her catch up with her little furry roommate..... We spent 5 hours out there, and another 2 later that night, hoping she would come out at dusk, but we never did find her. Until she showed up Tuesday afternoon, in the same yard she literally had fallen into when she fell off the balcony on Sunday. She's ok, although she has something in her eye. The Neighbor said her eye looked like a cracked marble, so we're just hoping for the best right now...... BUT wait..... there's more!

We have a firebug in the neighborhood, and it is scaring the daylights out of me. About 1 am Monday morning, Perky was a particular pest. He just would not take no for an answer, and about 3 minutes later, we found out why, when the fire department stopped right in front of our building with their sirens blasting. Turned out the neighbor across the way that has about 30 feet tall bushes, shielding him from the watching eyes of the old fogies on the second floor, and they were ablaze! I hadn't seen flames that bright, and high since we left brushfire country. It surprised the heck out of us because it has been raining like a banshee for 10 days, so nothing can be dry enough to burn that fast, that hot! As "luck" would have it, we were also right dab smack in the middle of the worst fall storm in a decade, with windgusts up to 35 miles an hour. Doesn't seem much, but if it's flames and cinders going at that rate...... It took them about an hour or so to get it out, and while they were re-rolling their hoses and what have you's we heard..... SMOKE, SMOKE, SMOKE!!! So it started all over. Peace returned about 4.30, so we didn't bother going back to bed.

We had a doctors appointment at 8.30 to see if Mike could do without some of the meds, since we weren't sure why he's taking meds for things that do not get checked, and we told the doctor this. He looked at us dumbfounded, and asked whether we had been doing the follow ups with the cardiologist..... we had, and he looked even more puzzled.  He actually checked his blood pressure, and went thru the blood test information in the file and such, and proceeded to explain WHY he would rather Mike didn't stop any of the meds. That helped a lot. You see, we are the troublesome ones that want to know the why, when we're told to do, or do not, do things LOL. He did say, that the pain in his legs could be from one of the "lesser" impact meds, and that Mike could stop it for 10 days, and if the pain was less, or gone, to give the doc a call, and he would see if there was a good alternative that would not interfere with his diabetic meds.

The rest of Monday, we spent some quality time at the carwash trying (and not succeeding) to get the ash and crud off the paint, we ran our errands for the week, and stayed in after 3 for a leisurely afternoon, dinner, and in light of the half night sleep, turned in earlier than we normally would, only to be woke up by Perky at 3.30 with a chaser of fire truck sirens. The hedge was on fire..... again! Mike had to go to work, so we stayed up and had breakfast.  Around mid day, I got a visit from some of the other neighbors, and they had decided (as we had) that the fires had been set and in preparation, nobody was going to park near the hedge that night, so the firetrucks could get to them, if need be. Also, some of them were going to stay up and keep watch. I had already planned on that, so I just figured, the more people were up, the better chance we got on getting a glimpse of who ever was setting the fires. So....... Mike went to bed early, because of the lost sleep the nights before, and I nestled on the couch with coffee, the I-Pad on very low, and a bowl of snacks to stand watch. Not being able to be on the computer (light, and too far off the window) or watch TV (diverted attention) the night was loooooooooooooong and draaaaaaaaaaging. Did I mention boooooooring? BUT, nothing happened, so I guess we're in the clear. I actually slept last night (5 hours) but Perky kept waking us up around 1 and 3. I think he caught on to the extra attention we gave him while we were up and now he tries to wake us up again. He was down to once, anywhere between 4 and 6, for breakfast. :-)

Mike came home last night, and told me he had to be at work by 6 to go to Spang Dalheim base for a run, so the alarm got set for 4AM..... Im trying to get the house "company ready" before Sunday, a shoppinglist made for both base and the economy, as well as get the laundry done, and a place found for them after its dried and folded. If I was a car, I'd say I was running on Fumes. LOL  The silver lining is that my sister let me know this afternoon, that they won't be here before 2 on Sunday, leaving us a little extra time to hide the clutter, and I can sleep without worrying I won't get the chores done before company comes.

The firetrucks still run a couple of times a night, but not closeby, so we rest a little easier. Although, I have to say, I never used to hear them go by, until now.

Did get some scrapping done over the last week or so. Even with 10 minutes at a time, you can get pages done :-)

I found the text for this online somewhere, or maybe I got it in an email.... I forget. I really like it, and it is so "CAT" I couldn't help but wanting to put it in both Perky's and Boo's album. Putting it in both albums just gives me a second time to play with it!

For the scrappers..... Don't forget that it is International Scrapbooking Day this Saturday. Lots of sales, specials and freebies, so sleep ahead tomorrow night, stock up on sugar and coffee, and lock the family outside so you don't get distracted :-)

Also, The Hawkeyes are playing the Wisconsin Badgers this weekend. I'm so sorry we can only get the scores after it's all over and we can't watch the games. Not even on the computer. There used to be a way, but I cannot find the TV station that would show them livestreaming. And it's not available on Apple TV, so If anybody out there has an idea, I would sure appreciate the chance to watch them again. It would even be worth being up for at Midnight LOL. (If you can't sleep more than a couple of hours a night, what better way to spend the time than watching football?)

Meanwhile, dinner is ready, I'm tired enough that I may actually get some sleep tonight, so I'll sign off for now.

Don't forget to hug that loved one? Good wishes, and good night :-)

All's well......

You probably are getting tired of the updates, but every time I get the "you're good" results at the hospital, I feel like I could jump over the moon, if my body would only let me! LOL
So..... That's all I'm going to say about that today.

My attention span is back to normal (for me, at least), I have energy to tackle what I left for the last week or so, while worrying, I made plans for after the next check up,(this is a B I G deal!) scheduled things closer to today, and I'm chomping at the bit to get going on the holiday season! I know, I'm so bad, hurrying the year along, when it's going so fast already, but the Holidays is my favorite family time of the year, and I'm trying to get the courage up to tackle the house to get ready for company........ Our holiday season starts with Mikes Birthday, progresses to mine, Thanksgiving, SETTING UP THE CHRISMAS TREE, followed by Sinterklaas and Christmas, to peeter out at the changing of years..... Mike doesn't celebrate his birthday, but he lets me bake a cake for him. We have had that tradition for as long as we've been together..... I bake his birthday cake, and he bakes mine. That's all. Now that we have my family close by, that makes for a little bit different scenario. Mike still doesn't celebrate, and on my birthday... the house is packed!(Not really hard to do, but still....) LOVE THAT!!! One thing I missed in the US, was that nobody will drop by unannounced, not even on your birthday, when they know it's your birthday. Here.... not so much. Even if you invite absolutely nobody, you better have some cookies in the house and your phone better be charged, because if people know it's your birthday... you're having company! :-)

My sister invited us for Thanksgiving. Odd, because it is not celebrated here, but I'll take it anyway I can. We were told, all we have to bring is us and the Turkey....LOL It would be so much fun to show them a new holiday tradition! Mike may have to go to work the next day, and than we would not make the drive, but I'm hoping things will slow down, and after all the weekends he has worked, (and nobody else having to) they'll cut him some slack, and give "Black Friday" to him. Would be nice...... (not holding my breath though)

I am officially off the CT team at Ivy Scraps. Not completely by choice, but more thru circumstances, completely WITHIN my control... LOL.  I took over the Ivy Leaves section. This means, that at the beginning of every month, I go thru the galleries for the challenges, and keep track of who entered, and whether or not they used an Ivy designer. If they did, I give them 3 leaves, if they didn't 1. I add up all leaves per member, make coupons, send them out, hope I did everything right, and if I didn't.... I redo, and apologize profusely!  I'm learning, so the apologizing is getting a little less though....... Besides The Leaves, I've added a friend/designer to my list of CT's.... If things would have stayed the same, it wouldn't have been a problem to do it all, but the duties changed, and something had to give, so I'm still doing the Bingo Pages, extra's if needed (Like for the birthday bash coming up in November!!!!) I just replaced the site CT duties with Waite For The Moment designs and Ivy leaves. Same amount of work but a little more leaway in the "getting it done" part.
Jan has sent me a coupon for things from her store, and I've looked at them, but I've been in such a muddle over my check-up, that that's all I've done sofar...... Planned for next week: Shopping at Ivy, designing pages, scrapping (oh fudge, do I have to!? LOL) and posting..... so keep an eye out for some new "stuff"

Boo, as always, has been busy, but I have not been keeping up. I saw this morning that she has a couple of REALLY cool kits coming out soon, and I DID snag one of them....... She is also taking "old" kits out of the vault, and putting them back in the store for a bit, so if you missed any...... now may be a chance to pick them up!

She has a collab with one of my favorite designers, Linda Cumberland. Its called Autumn Surprise, and I just HAVE to share a page one of the fellow CT's made with it. I absolutely adore the way she put the page together, and I am very much considering scraplifting that puppy!! :-)

Page by ARIADNE

Ann is still gathering peace in a cabin on a lake, and I wish her all the peace she needs. And, for a bit, I won't be scrapping her marvelous kits.... well....... atleast not new ones, but I'm not done with the "old" ones for a long while, so I'm not running out of ideas, yet!

My "Point In Time" challenge over at The Studio, is back on track, I think. Made it 2 months in a row, and I'm working on the one for November, so I think I'm ok there.....

If you want, have time, and think it will be fun to showcase the pets in the family tree.... Come join us. It's still early in the month :-)

Part of my plan to "regroup" is a schedule, and I just noticed, that I'm well into "chore time", but.... I had fun catching you up, meaning I will have to swiffer a little faster, or forget about that until tomorrow......... I'm SO HAPPY I put a catch up day on the schedule! LOL

Don't forget to hug a loved one?
Hugs,
Pauli

Lots done.... more to go!

Is that nog how that goes?
Here it seems to. LOL. The more I get done, the longer the list of "still to get to" gets....... It seems that everything I tackle, has 8 things attached to it, that need doing too.  Anybody have any hints on how to streamline!?

Called the vet to get some relief for our fuzzy roommate. He has licked both his hindlegs hairless, and there are some spots where it has started to bleed. No idea how long he has been working on it, but I don't think it has been very long, because as close as he sticks to us, we would have noticed before it got this bad. Result.... After I'm done here, I'm off to go pick up his cream, which undoubtedly will lead to a wrestling match, with both of us equally greased up. LOL
Vet thinks its an allergy, and asked if we treat him for fleas..... we don't, so we're not sure what it can be attributed to.
The other result will be, that I will wash his bedding, mop the floors with vinegarwater, just in case it's the regular floorcleaner, and keep him inside. If none of this helps, we will have to figure out what else he comes in contact with, that he doesn't always come in contact with..... Quietly, I'm hoping for dry skin because of the weather, but I don't know at this point.

Ann from StarSongStudio is AWOL.... She, husband and pup are enjoying a very much needed time off at her daughters, and as soon as she's rested, refueled and back.... I'll have something to play with in no-time, and subsequently, show you. LOL

Boo has been Boo. Busy as always. I really can't keep up with that girl, so I just quietly plot along. However, I did collect a couple of pages for you to look at......

Surreal:

Combination page CT-LifeBook.
 One Page Wonder #97:

 One Page Wonder #96
My favorite picture of mom.
 Reflect:

From dream to reality.

I have no pictures to do the kit justice, so I opted for a poster.

I'm kind of AWOL from Ivy. I no longer am a full fledged CT member, but I (try to) help out Jan, by doing the IvyLeaves (almost done for this month :-)!) and right now, I'm downloading some of her kits, so I can take up my duties as her CT.
So, you'll still see me floating around there, just different ROFL.
AND WE'RE GEARING UP FOR THE BIRTHDAY PARTY AT IVY SCRAPS!!! So stay tuned.

Mike is at work. They only have a couple of days left to clear the building, and than, the move to the main store is complete and final. I already miss the old building, and so does everybody on the team. It was nice, roomy, clean and lively. The mainstore, I don't think has seen a broom since they fired the cleaningcrew last year. It's dingy, cramped, and if I were in charge, I would have moved it into the other building, instead of adding the PXtra to the smaller building.... When I'm waiting for him to get off work now, I have to sit in the car, where as at the other building, I could wait in the breakroom wich was nice in summer AND the winter.... and it means I will have to figure out how to stretch things I need to do on base to fill up his work hours. Definite bummer!  There is a distinct difference in departments too. The parts that came with his crew, are stocked, fronted, organized, no other boxes anywhere but where they are stocking, and, odd as it may sound..... there's people on the floor to ask where to find things! I shouldn't say anything, really, because it IS mikes work and I don't want him to get in trouble, so this is the last you'll hear about it. He started around 6.30, and he should be home nice and early.... I think there's a movie playing on base tonight that he's been wanting to see, meaning we may just boogie out of here for dinner too :-)

Our fuzzy roommate has dissappeared, but the bedroom closetdoor is ajar, so I have a good idea where he went to. That will change as soon as I start lunch, which is, right after I hit publish on this puppy LOL. I was wondering how I could be hungry already, until I noticed that it is almost noon, and I had breakfast at 5 this morning..... Time is flying, and YES! I'm having fun.

Don't forget to hug a loved one, enjoy whatever weather you're having and I will bug you later, hopefully with more pages, an empty to-do list and plans for tomorrow, so I can tell you "I'm all caught up!"      Stop laughing! It could happen.....

Hugs,
Pauli

Perky is a south-paw!

No kidding.
Don't know what made me pay attention, but the other day I was wondering whether animals favor a side. I know horses do, because some are just a bearcat to turn one way, while they're smooth as silk going the other. LOL I figured it's a muscle thing, and was wondering, since Perky uses his paws like we use our hands, if the same held true for him. (I know, my mind works in mysterious ways, right?)
Anywho.... I started watching Perky going about his business of opening cabinets, swatting at Eeks (his "pet" mouse with catnip) his rabbit (with a catnip pouch) and his stick of dynamite (the only explosive is Perky when he plays with it, since its a solid block of catnip ROFL) and he always starts out with his left paw and reaches for them coming down with his left paw too. He only uses his right if his left can't reach. It's funny to watch him open the door, because he just hooks his claws around the corner, and pulls, but always the left one...... Even  unlocking the deadbolt he does left "handed"..... Now, reading this back, it sounds like we have a little dopefiend fuzzy roommate, but he really only plays with one of them at a time, and most of the time, they're all in a cabinet, in a plastic bag..... so he doesn't stumble thru the house like a stoner. Honestly! LOL. We've seen him high on medicines after he ate the Easter Lily, and we don't want that to happen, just for fun, so you can rest easy.

So, now that I have that little bit of useless information out of my system.....
Have you been playing at the studio last month? I have, a little, and it was fun! And there's another party in the works over at Ivy Scraps next month! WHOOHOO!!! Can't wait :-)

I forgot to post a couple of pages, so I'll catch you up real quick, and than I'll start on the Ivy Leaves proces. I'm starting to realize first hand how much work goes into running our playgrounds, so it runs seamless, and I have a renewed respect for all that Jan, Toiny and Rebecca do to keep everything running smooth, so all we have to do is park our hineys and play! :-)

THANK YOU LADY'S FOR ALL YOU DO!!

Truly
I don't know what I have been busy with, I just know that these 2 have been sitting, ready to go, without a picture, for about a month. I thought I would post them as QP, but wasn't sure that was the right thing to do, so I found pictures for them, finally.
The picture of Perky, my cousin took while visiting. NOW I can see the difference between a nice SLR digital, and my little point and shoot. Even with the bells and whistles, it does most things very well, but I can't take pictures like this, without washing out the details, somehow.
The lower picture was taken at the Terra Cotta Warrior exhibit. I thought it was kind of interesting to see the pieces of the clay figures, as well as the whole figurines.

Now, I thought I had more lay outs I hadn't shared, but I cannot put my grubby little hands on them right now, so I'll have to save them for a later date.

For me, it's off to "work" now, so I can make a couple of people happy with a coupon, and Jan for not getting a headache this month from people asking where the coupons are. LOL!

Don't forget to hug that loved one?
Hugs,
Pauli
